The Scan to OCR feature is available for certain languages. Use the Scan button on the machine to make temporary changes to the scan settings. Sep 01, 2019 Brother MFC 240C- cannot scan to OCR I have a Brother all-in one (MFC-240C) and downloaded the entire software package. When I try to scan to OCR I get the message that no OCR software is installed, but I'm sure it is. This error occurs if the OCR software bundled with PaperPort SE is not installed properly. In order to resolve this issue, you will need to install the PaperPort program. If you do not have the CD-ROM that came with the Brother machine, you may also download and install PaperPort 12 for Windows XP.

First, let’s temporarilydisable antivirus software on the computer as a test and check if that makes any difference.
If disabling the antivirus software fixes the issue, you may have to configure the settings of the antivirus program accordingly. Please contact the software vendor for further assistance in this regard.

To install the program in administrator mode,
1. Locate the program icon, right-click click and select Run as administrator.
2. When the UAC message is displayed, do one of the following:
