Windows Server 2008 32 Bits

Cross- architecture upgrades, i.e. 32 bit to 64 bit and vive versa, are definitely not supported (see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979563(v=ws.10).aspx for supported upgrade paths), and as far as I know, they are not even possible, since we are talking about different architectures.

Your best bet will be to back up contents and reinstall.

In addition, Server 2008 is already 3 versions out-of-date. If you have to rebuild, seriously consider the possibility of going to Server 2012 R2 (or at the very least, Server 2012).

Any edition of Windows Server 2008 may be installed without activation and evaluated for an initial 60 days. If you need more time to evaluate Windows Server 2008, the 60 day evaluation period may be reset (or re-armed) three times, extending the original 60 day evaluation period by up to 180 days for a total possible evaluation time of 240 days. May 25, 2009  Service Pack 2, the latest service pack for both Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, supports new types of hardware and emerging hardware standards, includes all of the updates that have been delivered since SP1, and simplifies deployment, for consumers, developers, and IT professionals.

No information on what the differences are between: Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Web Server Editions...

Considering the free alternatives, this OS needs some serious added incentives to make it appealing. This OS is aimed at tech types who know about free alternatives like Ubuntu so it would only be worth installing the final RTM if it costed less than $30 and had some REAL MS innovation for a change. But knowing MS that won't happen. The slogan for this OS could be:
'Home Server: The Fail Starts Now'
@Fidelio they may be based on the same code but that doesn't mean anything. Windows XP Home and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise are built on the same codebase. So what.

Why screw Vista? Windows Server 2008 and Vista SP1 are build on the same code.
Just get SP1 RC1 installed :)

Screw vista, but this thing right here looks VERY promising!!! Rock-solid.
Fidelio: Did I say anything about their cores? No. If you don't know why, compare XP perfomance with 2003, and then compare Vista with 2008. If then too you won't see a difference, I can't help you I guess.
